At the Whimsy we are committed to ensuring our website and where possible* our accommodation is accessible to all. If you encounter any barriers, please contact us at Mel@thewhimsy.com.au. We welcome your feedback to continually improve accessibility.
- We use natural cleaning products and do not use synthetic scents
- We have all electric appliances in the kitchen (no gas)
- The cottage has a calming neutral colour scheme
- We are located in a rural area with no immediate neighbors so there is minimal noise other than the occasional vehicle travelling down Mount Paris Dam Road.
- The bedrooms and front room are carpeted, with floorboards in the kitchen and dining area
- There is a sensor light at the front and rear of the cottage
The Whimsy is an old cottage which we are focused on preserving, and due to it's age and layout it unfortunately is not physically accessible to everyone. The following information is provided to help you to determine it’s suitability for you and your travelling companions if you have mobility requirements.
Mobility Considerations*:
- There is a slight incline down to the front yard from the single off street gravel parking spot
- There are three large steps down to the path if you park on the gravel along the front fence.
- There is a small step up to the front verandah
- The old paving stone path leading to the front door is made up of slightly irregular stones
- There are two steps from the back door down to the covered paved area outside.
- There is an incline as you move away from the house into the backyard.
- There are two large, deep steps from the front living room down to the kitchen
- The shower is over the claw foot bath
- The bath sits on blocks and requires care to climb in and out. There is a grab rail for the bath.
- There are two steps down from the laundry to access the rear bedroom
- The floor of the front room has a very slight incline (quirk of an old cottage).
