The Whimsy is a little secluded and a little magical.  You need to drive through rainforest to reach it no matter which direction you come from.  Follow the crooked stone path to the front door and once you step inside you leave the world you came from behind.  

Switch off, slow down and just breathe.  And if you are wanting some action as well, it's your base from which to explore the stunning local wilderness or to set off on an adventure or two to discover spectacular wild places and secret treasures.

We are located in the beautiful tiny town of Weldborough in North East Tasmania which is under 2 hours drive from Launceston, 4 hours from Hobart and if you are coming from the ferry it's 3 hours from Devonport.

Weldborough is 45 minutes from the East coast town of St Helens with the spectacular Bay of Fires only another 15 minutes drive from there.

For mountain bikers we are a short 20 minutes drive from the mountain biking mecca of Derby and for winter snow seekers, Tasmania's only Ski Resort at Ben Lomond is around a 2.5 hour drive.

No.  We are dog lovers ourselves, but at The Whimsy there are strictly no pets as we prioritise the local wildlife having the property as a safe haven to roam as they please without fear.
